ACAPS hosts a delegation from CIMA

As part of its South-South cooperation strategy, the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS) is hosting a delegation from the Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets (CIMA) from 14 to 18 September 2026. 

This technical immersion visit with the Authority’s teams aims to foster exchanges on supervisory approaches, mechanisms and practices, with a particular focus on the audit of consolidated accounts and the supervision of reinsurance. The programme also covers the Moroccan regulatory framework for the insurance sector, risk-based supervision, and the procedures for ongoing and on-site supervision, thereby facilitating the sharing of experience across the various aspects of supervision. 

At the start of this week of exchanges, on Monday 14 September, the Chairman of ACAPS, Mr Abderrahim Chaffai, welcomed the members of the delegation. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss cooperation between ACAPS and CIMA, as well as the value of sharing expertise between supervisory authorities. 

It should be emphasised that this initiative contributes to capacity-building and the sharing of experiences amongst African supervisory authorities. It forms part of the ongoing relationship between ACAPS and CIMA, formalised by a memorandum of understanding signed in April 2015.

The Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets (CIMA) is the supranational authority for the insurance industry in the sixteen African member states of the Franc Zone. It was established by the Treaty on the Integrated Organization of the Insurance Industry in African States, signed on 10 July 1992.
