What is Travel Assistance in Morocco

The travel assistance contract is designed to provide insured individuals with essential support during private or professional travel. It offers coverage in cases such as:

  • Medical Emergencies : Urgent and unforeseen illness or accident affecting the insured person.
  • Vehicle Immobilisation : Breakdown, accident, or theft preventing the insured vehicle from functioning.
  • Loss or Theft: Protection against the loss or theft of identity documents or means of payment.
  • Repatriation Assistance: Coverage in the event of the insured person's death abroad.

This assistance is available for any traveler planning to go abroad, with coverage details specified in the contract. Many countries, including those in the Schengen area, require travel assistance as part of their visa application process.

What does the Travel Assistance Contract Cover?

The travel assistance contract offers essential services for travelers from Morocco, ensuring assistance in case of unexpected incidents abroad. The key coverages include :

Coverage of Hospitalisation Costs Abroad

If the insured person experiences an accident or urgent illness while traveling, the insurer covers hospitalisation expenses abroad up to the limit specified in the contract. This coverage can be extended, for an additional premium, to:

  • Chronic diseases
  • Pre-existing conditions
  • Relapses, aggravations, or complications of an existing illness

Repatriation and Transport of the Deceased to Morocco

In the event of the insured person's death abroad, the insurer takes care of:

  • Repatriation of the body to Morocco
  • Handling the necessary administrative procedures
  • Providing a coffin suitable for transport, if required

Vehicle Assistance Abroad

  • Sending Spare Parts Abroad: If the insured vehicle is immobilized due to an accident or breakdown and essential spare parts are unavailable locally, the insurer arranges for their sourcing, advance payment, and shipping.
  • Abandonment of the Insured Vehicle: If the vehicle is declared a total loss, the insurer covers the costs of abandonment. If local regulations do not allow abandonment, the insurer also covers its transport to another country.

Legal and Financial Assistance

  • Advance Payment of Criminal Bail: If the insured is involved in a traffic accident abroad and required to pay criminal bail, the insurer advances the required amount up to the contractual limit.
  • Lawyer’s Fees: If the insured faces legal proceedings abroad due to a traffic accident, the insurer covers legal defense fees up to the amount specified in the contract.

Protection Against Theft or Loss

  • Advance for Loss or Theft of Payment Methods & Identity Documents: If the insured loses or has their means of payment or identity documents stolen, the insurer grants an emergency financial advance up to the contract’s limit.
  • Hotel Accommodation Costs: The insurer covers hotel expenses abroad in case of loss or theft of financial means, within the contractual limits.
  • Premature Return to Morocco: If the insured person must return urgently to Morocco due to the loss or theft of financial means, the insurer provides a transport ticket (economy-class flight, train, or coach).

Travel assistance contracts provide for a ceiling for benefits, taking into account the requirements of the destination country for the issue of a visa (e.g. for the Schengen area, the minimum cover is 30,000 euros).

What is the Duration of Coverage Abroad ?

Travel assistance coverage is generally valid for up to 90 consecutive days per trip, ensuring comprehensive support for travelers from Morocco.
